Anyone else have a report on the meeting? I know that a couple of
seattle.rb folks went down there.
Well, as the giver of the talk I have to say that the Perlmongers were
friendly and they didn’t bite (that should help encourage others to give
Ruby talks to their local Perlmonger’s groups). In fact several of them
were pretty recepeptive to Ruby.
I want to thank the Rubyists who attended and helped fill in the
gaps in my presentation. I think that when the Perl folks saw that there
were some other folks in the audience who were using Ruby and offering
suggestions that it helped reinforce the idea that Ruby is in use out in
the real world. Special thanks to the two from Seattle who drove six hours
(round trip).

I’m very glad to hear about receptiveness. There’s a lot of it at
this time of year, it seems (viz. the recent effort to create a
wide-distribution newsletter).
A scripting-languages newsgroup combining insights from Ruby, the Ps,
etc. would be a nice idea, I think. (Maybe it exists already…)
To reciprocate the receptiveness, we should ensure we don’t go
overboard in /P[:alpha:]{3,5}/ bashing, not that we have for a while.
I promise not to start anything
If Phil’s receptive Perl Mongers dropped in here and gave us some
insights, we’d be richer for it.
Three cheers to Phil!
