To me, you both are very cool ruby hackers. so before you start calling names to each other, might as well settle your diffs offline, preferably w cool beer and pizza..
just my friendly nuby advice.

Thanks for the compliment, Peña.
I don't drink, but I'd consider having coffee with Mr. Shaw.
I replied privately to his recent post, and want to leave it at that, and really don't want to see anyone make anything more of this.
I had previously sent Mr. Shaw a private message, hoping to clarify my lengthy post on ruby-talk, and had thought that any continued discussion could have been handled that way. I was mistaken. Mr. Shaw and I have different ideas on communication technique.
That's life.
One other thing: I know the people who created and look after Rubygems, and they have my utmost respect. If nothing else, I want to be sure that they don't take anything I wrote as a dig or a shallow way to ask for changes. If I offended, my apologies.

Thanks, and much appreciated. By and large, the Ruby community has some of the warmest and smartest people I've encountered. I've been surprised on a few occasions to meet people in real life who's online presence was tactless at best, but who in fact are quite sincere, enthusiastic, and well-intentioned. You never know. So I continue to try to think well of people, even when they beg me not to.
