You need to mail "ruby-talk-ctl@ruby-lang.org" with "unsubscribe" in
the body. (Or you could probably unsub using web interface.)

DITTO! Very hard to get off the list. Tried several times. Someone even
butted in with instructions with proof that he/she was unsubscribed. Did
exactly what the instructions said, and still here.

I'm sure that although I've responded to this email - I'll never be
unsubscribed. I have even considered changing my email address to get OFF
the list

I know I'm out of here. And, guess what, the unsubscribe worked the
first time. The confirmation just arrived as I'm sending this final
note.

Bet you're still here.

Unsubscribe is a 2 step process. The confirmation email marks the end of step 1.
Step 2 is to reply to the confirmation email.
This results in a reply "FML status report (ruby-talk ML) with contents that begin "Your mail contains no valid commands".
Which leaves you subscribed.

Welcome to unsubscribe hell.

I'm here to help you fix your Ruby issues, not your life issues. I'm
sincerely hoping you will manage to unsubscribe yourself and stop
bothering us.

Have you tried replying with the line starting with "confirm ..." in
th body? Because that's what I tried, and it worked.

@bartosz -

please excuse me, but you're being a total arse with lines like these:

I'm sincerely hoping you will manage to unsubscribe yourself and stop
bothering us.

this is not constructive, it's elitist and mean - nice work.

  @Cathy and @Darryl -

*i'm* sincerely hoping that you'll be able to ignore these types of
comments, and continue reading and posting to the ruby forum with
questions and suggestions of your own.

Hey, forgive him. Poor pan polak probably has had a bad day.
In the worst case yet again, there are mail filters.

please excuse me, but you're being a total arse with lines like these:

Would a Polish translation help convey the message?

In fact, I've considered bringing matz's attention to this as
poisonous people tend to destroy communities *fast*, I've seen
that before.

Bartosh, you're not going to help anyone with that attitude.

this is not constructive, it's elitist and mean - nice work.

It's not even 1337ist, it's childish. The technology isn't really
worth anything on its own, it's only worth something when it's
applicable to solve real life problems. And the decent community
tends to also help solve these, not create.

You're not exactly helping.

My inbox is flooded with "unsubscribe" mails every day, and I've just
had enough. I have no idea how unsubscribing from a mailing list could
prove challenging to anyone, much less challenging enough to flood the
list with mails about it. I have personally posted instructions how to
unsubscribe, too.

Also, please at least spell my name correctly.

Come on, that's a vast exaggeration! Plus you can easily set up a
GMail filter to get rid of mails with "unsubscribe" in the subject and
have eliminated most of it.

Cheers
