I can't unsubscribe, please help

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me out with the unsubscribe process. I have sent (many times) an email to ruby-talk-ctl@ruby-lang.org with "unsubscribe" and/or "# unsubscribe" in the body. Each time I get back this confirmation request (below). When I reply to it (I've tried replying with "unsubscribe", "# unsubscribe", and with nothing at all) I get a lengthy email in reply saying that my email has no effective commands, etc.

And then I keep getting more emails from the mailing list.

I've also tried unsubscribing from Mailing Lists but all I get is a page that says "405 Not Allowed - nginx/0.7.67"

Thanks,
Matthew

Have you tried replying with the quoted text of the confirmation request
still in your outgoing email? You seem to be saying you've replied with
a fresh email containing nothing, or nothing but the word "unsubscribe"
with or without a hash mark. I think you need specific parts of the
actual text of the confirmation request email in your reply.

Also . . . if you *have* replied that way, perhaps you're replying with
an HTML email and it's screwing up the ability of the system to read the
important parts of the reply. Make sure you're replying in plaintext.

Just reply as-is. Don't change the body at all. I just unsubscribed and resubscribed and it worked fine. My steps:

1. send "unsubscribe" in the body to ruby-talk-ctl@ruby-lang.org from my subscribed email address.
2. get back an email for confirmation.
3. hit reply, hit send. It looked something like this:

unsubscribe

I didn't change the body at all. Do make sure that it too is sent from the subscribed address. (I use email address extensions to sort into mailboxes and track spammers... like Nicholas Meyler!)

4. Get a final response that you've been unsubscribed.

Extra data: I'm using osx's mail.app and sending/receiving plain text email. Your mail client should also be sending plain text email to ruby-talk-ctl@.

For the time being, you can only subscribe/unsubscribe manually.

Thanks, Ryan. I think my issue might be that my email (Outlook) was sending HTML not plain text. I changed that but now I've got a different problem: I don't receive the confirmation email (Step 2 in your description below). And I'm not already unsubscribed because I keep on getting emails from the mailing list. I've since tried sending the initial unsubscribe request in both HTML and plain text and I don't receive any response. I've also tried responding (Step 3) in plain text to the original (Step 2) confirmation emails that I received (before asking for help) but nothing happens: not the final (Step 4) response or even the one I was originally getting about "no effective commands, blah, blah."

When I originally sent (multiple) unsubscribe requests, the server responded right away.

Any ideas why there is now no response at all?

Would an administrator kindly remove my email address from this mailing list?

It's not my intent to bother anyone or be lazy about this. I understand that there is a procedure in place to unsubscribe. But it doesn't work for me. I've followed the directions for unsubscribing exactly as they have been provided, and for me, for whatever reason, they don't work.

I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks
