Damned !! I just needed to do

# svn up

to continue working on the 'bricks' project at home, and I am stuck !

please let me know when the forge comes back to life ...

Oops, that was me. It seems that the script I wrote to artificially
pad my gem download stats got a little crazy and, uh, wait....should I
be telling you this?

KIDDING!

Perhaps this is a good opportunity to learn about decentralized
version control systems, such as Darcs, Mercurial, Arch, Bazaar,
Monotone, SVK, etc.

Make the best of bad situations, no?

This seems great ! I will have a closer look into SVK.

Thanks for the link.

Is it just me or is rubyforge.org dead from yesterday evening (europe
time) ?

What's up ?

Do I really have to ride a motorcycle to go to the office grab the work
I did two days ago or is there a chance I will be able to 'svn up' soon
?

Any news on what is happening welcome...

It just died again. It has been up for at least 12 hours. That's a
record I think...

I even blogged about RF's woes:

Yup, it went offline again this morning at 1035 and came back up at
1110. Believe me, I'm just as unhappy as everyone else about these
random & frequent crashes, and I'm working to fix it...

Tom

if there's one thing i've learned lately via major system crashes it's this:

   it ain't that important.

no one is launching rockets out of code stored in rubyforge's repo. i'm sure
everyone will be quite happy to wait patiently while the problem is sorted out
- beggars and all that...

on that note - if there is any help you require i'm sure you've got a long
line of volunteers right here.

good luck.

I think it has been bad luck for me. I finally took the bike to ride to
the office... just to discover from there that rubyforge is back up...

Tom, good luck with your daemons...

Ah, well said, true enough. Man, I sure hate getting those Nagios "host
down!" emails, though... ah well.

Cool, yup, right on. I'm going to take rubyforge down around 1 PM or so
for a few minutes to disable an extra NIC, check the BIOS error logs,
etc. Maybe that'll yield some good info, we'll see...

good luck.

Many thanks!

Yours,

Tom

Thanks! And apologies to all for this instability; we'll all be happy
once RubyForge returns to its usual boring ways...

Bring back boring forge. "What's RubyForge?" is what "gem install" users
should say
