PickAxe index?

Does PickAxe online have an index?

I often find that I can’t find things in PickAxe because I don’t know
where they are. For instance, now I’m looking for information on case
statements. I know it’s there somewhere. I’ve seen it. But for the
life of me I can’t figure out where it is.

Perhaps ri can be extended to include more than just classes.

For now, I’ll continue searching through PickAxe.

Oh, BTW, I did eventually find what I was looking for. But I still think
that it’d be good if PickAxe had an index.

The Ruby Document Bundle contains an online pickaxe with an index in a
separate frame.

It can. See Rimport
http://www.ruby-lang.org/raa/list.rhtml?name=rimport

(But know that work on rimport has been halted for assorted reasons.)

For now, I’ll continue searching through PickAxe.

Or use the slightly enhanced ri hosted at ruby-doc.org

http://www.ruby-doc.org/find

(It just calls Rimport running on the server.)

Which version of the Pickaxe are you looking at?

If it’s the Pickaxe in HTML format, in the lower left hand corner there is
a window labeled “jump targets”. Click C. This takes you to a list of
things that start with C. There are two entries for “Case Expressions”.

I don’t have access to my Windows machine but I’m pretty sure the Pickaxe
in the Windows Help file format has an index. I know it has a search tool.

On that web page, we find this very interesting date: “Fri, 10 Feb 2003”

I knew Guido has a time machine … I didn’t know Ruby-doc had one too.

Which version of the Pickaxe are you looking at?

The online version.

If it’s the Pickaxe in HTML format, in the lower left hand corner there is
a window labeled “jump targets”. Click C.

On the online version I can’t see where it says “jump targets”. Is that a
download version? Where can I download it?

Has anyone mentioned the PickAxe book at
http://dev.faeriemud.org/ProgrammingRuby/ ?
It has a nice index and table of contents in the “NavBar”.
Or is it an implementation of some other, pre-existing documentation?

It did  And I’m eagerly awaiting an announcement on -talk of an
update…

Cool. My tutorial made it to the bundle.

So you know. I’m currently studying for a Qualifier Exam and a final
exam. This is taking up my time right now. I’m also working on a ruby
program to automate a few things for the tutorial.

There will definitelly be more updates comming.

Cheers,
