Application and web app technologies

Not to discount the comments from the others who have already replied -- they
are very correct that you'd probably benefit by looking in the archives at
past advocacy discussions, and that you need to think about any changes
carefully; if you already have a large corpus of code and knowledge with
Perl, you need some pretty convincing reasons to change, I think.

However, I switched from being a hardcore Perl advocate and user close to 4
years go to being a dedicated Ruby user for nearly everything I write, from
sysadmin tools to web applications, and have been very happy with the switch.
It is a fabulous language to work, day after day.

That said, do you have any specfiic questions or concerns about Ruby, in
particular, that we might be able to address?

We want something that we can use across the board, from web apps to
sys admin (which is why ColdFusion is not a candidate). I'm not
interested in advocacy, but if anyone has experience in and compare
these technologies, we would be grateful for your experiences.
