When I tried installing ruby-ldap (ruby install.rb), it says that ldap.so is
missing. When I tried to build ldap.so (ruby extconf.rb --with-wldap32), it
says dlltool is missing. I should probably mention that I’m on a W2K box
using Ruby 1.8.0.
Is there no other way to do this than use ruby-ldap? The really confusing
part is that the address bar of Windows Explorer shows
“ntds://some.url.type.path/LOCATION/TARGET”, yet when I copy and paste this
to a new browser window, it will not go to the target. It tries to redirect
to a news server and fails. Pardon my n00b ranting. This is my first
experience with Active Directory.

Isn’t Active Directory Microsoft’s name for LDAP? If it is, then
ruby-ldap[1] will help you.
