My best friend and partner for the last five years, Kent Starr,
recently took quite ill and had open heart surgery and the whole nine
yards. Unfortunately, he didn’t survive although he fought a good fight
until April 29. I know he loved programming and scripting languages and
totally supported Ruby. He would want all of you to know that he’s not
ignoring you, he’s just found other oceans he needs to sail.

Mary,
I’m very sorry to hear this. Like many on this list, I’d gotten to know
Kent “electronically” and, if I recall correctly, Kent was one of the
presenters at the first Ruby Conference in 2001. On behalf of the Ruby
Community, please accept our condolences.
Sincerely,
Lyle Johnson
