Michal Suchanek has put up a Fink package for Ruby 1.8.0 (its currently
in Fink’s unstable tree). Thank you Michael.
Fink is a package management system for Unix-based programs on Mac OS
X. Fink is based on debian.
I would encourage Ruby developers to consider placing Ruby applications
and libraries on Fink.

In light of the size of RAA and the ambitiousness of many projects, I
propose that RAA add a field for ‘Maintainer’. Initially, the
maintainer would be the owner of the project. Project owner’s could
designate a maintainer if and when they wished. Also, project owners
could advertise that a maintainer position is open if they are
interested in volunteers. Maintainers would have rights to update the
project (if the project owner approved) and would have whatever
responsibilities the project owner chose to delegate.
I think the overhead would be minimal and the proposal would be
relatively easy to implement, but the RAA team would know if my
supposition is correct.
I am curious if others think this is a good idea.
