Rails training

I asked this in the Rails forum, but no replies, so....
Will any recommend quality training, online or instructor lead of rails
for beginners? Do I need to have a solid background in Ruby first? I
don't, its more beginner too, but I have been writing Perl for 8 years
now.

Hi Derek,

I did it the hard way, I bought the Agile Web Development with Rails book,
read it multiple times, then built the depot demo app multiple times (I kept
screwing up and missing a step or two). Download the code from the web site
and keep it locally, it makes things way simpler.

I now have a beginner's concept of Rails, many of the subtle techniques
still elude me, but I have built successful web apps with Rails.

too. Buy the pragprog Programming Ruby book too (but not the 1.9
version)

Yeah, but I do program daily like some here. I use it as a tool in my
HPUX, AIX, and SUSE sysadmin belt. I have many ruby and rails pdf
files, but i enjoy classroom style learning so I am strongly considering
taking this:
