I remember I read about a lib wich allows to create Excel/Power Point
documents under Unix/Linux.

was I dreaming ?

You were not dreaming. Take a look at the “spreadsheet” module on the RAA for creating Excel compatible files:

Note that formulas and files over 7mb are not supported yet.

As for PowerPoint, I don’t know.
