Perl -> Ruby: assistance wanted (offlist)

Hello all…

Looking for some assistance in translating
a little Perl code to Ruby. My Perl is weak.

Original Perl is about 400 lines, Ruby version
is 268 lines and shrinking.

I’ve got it at least 80% done… but I’ve
probably introduced problems or incorrectly
interpreted things.

Hal, although I’m not nearly the Ruby hacker that you are and my Perl is
probably 2nd to many, I do know both languages and would be glad to look
at the code.

I’m quite good at Perl (although no Perl wizard), and adept at Ruby, so if
you haven’t received enough help yet, I might be able to :slight_smile: But reading
this one day late, I guess you’ve already been helped :slight_smile:

Although you might want to find someone who can actually direct email to
the proper source.

Apologies to the list-- in my defense I’ve apparently picked up a bad habit
from another list where “reply” to a list email went to the author, not
the sorry.
