It's better to discuss specific rails problems at rails group, see
http://rubyonrails.com/community - there are more knowledgeable people
there
Here people discuss more general ruby issues.
These are just rules, and sometimes they just have to be broken ![]()

As Jano mentioned, the rails list is better for those topics, but I
just want to thank you for being polite and asking whether or not
something is on topic. If more new subscribers took that approach, I
think there would be less friction around here.
General Ruby topics and discussions on Ruby software that may not have
a community of its own developed yet are usually okay here.
