Migrating 1.6 -> 1.7

Hi folks,

I’m attempting to migrate from 1.6 to 1.7, and perhaps embrace the
native Windows version, but I’m wondering about one thing in
particular.

Why do so many libraries install themselves into the site_ruby/1.6
directory? I don’t imagine that there is anything particularly
1.6-ish about them.

I’d also like to hear any other comments people have about this topic.

Cheers,
Gavin

Just for safe. It gives you a chance to ensure if it’s compatible.
(to tell the truth, I was just following convention of other languages)

						matz.

Odd numbered releases are “developmental”. That means only Ruby insiders
should mess with them. They are like a “beta release” that show new
internal features or architectures.

User programmers should only use even numbers (like Linux). Go from 1.6 to
1.8 as soon as a Windows distro arrises for it.
