Hi.
I saw the new Matz’s slides from Ruby Conference 2002 at www.ruby-lang.org.
(Good reading if you want to understand thoughts behind our loved language.)
I was especially interested in the last two slides which among other things
mention:
- bytecode interpreter
- native thread support
and that Matz has “just decided VM design”.
Is there any more information on these topics? I want to look forward
Thanks

Sorry, it’s still secret.
If someone takes responsibility over 1.6 and/or 1.7, I would disclose
the secret sooner.
I was hoping that the following would work, but it seems there is a
method missing!
code:
Matz.clone
output:
undefined method `clone’ for Matz:Class (NoMethodError)
Rob
Oh, sure, be secretive. We know the Scheme folks got to you at LL2
and brainwashed you into using the Scheme-48 engine…

This is no surprise to me, as I’d consider Matz to be
a singleton. There can only be one.

Of course not–we wouldn’t do anything like that. Besides, we parrot

that makes things easier…

And a week before, Squeak folks brainwashed me to use their VM.
My brain has been bleached by too many washing.
I’m glad you haven’t tried to wash my brain to use Parrot.
