Agreed. Leaning a language is fun, and I find Ruby to be very fund. However, Ruby is a means, not an end. Do something you enjoy with it.

Maybe get a used copy of the "Ruby Cookbook" and work through those examples. Or "The Ruby Way". Or "Eloquent Ruby". Here's Brandon Waver's book list:
