File IO slow in Rubyinstaller 1.6.8-8

This might be an old question, but why is file IO so so slow in the
Rubyinstaller 1.6.8-8 version (and can it be fixed)? I had 1.7.3 for a
while and it was very fast, however, it’s no longer available on SF.net.

Because the is a known problem that 1.7.3 fixes. Try the 1.8 series if you
can get it as it has the fix as well.

Check http://rubygarden.org/ruby?WindowsInstaller. I see a 1.7.3-7 link
there.
