What is Madeleine?

Madeleine is a Ruby implementation of Object Prevalence:
Transparent persistence of business objects using command
logging and snapshots.

News in Madeleine 0.2:

  • Supports custom marshalling implementations.
  • Changed interface for ClockedSystem and Clock.
  • Documentation added, including API docs.

So now all you YAML-heads can get your snapshots in the format you like!

I just discovered object prevalence in this post, so I google’d a
little, and came out with few questions:

  • why madeleine instead of mnemonic[1] ? (or viceversa)
  • how memory costing is madeleine ?

Mnemonic has been an inactive project for over a year, hence the need
for a new project. However, Leslie Hensley (the author of Mnemonic) may
continue to work on it now. We’ll see if we can merge the two projects
or something.

  • how memory costing is madeleine ?

Madeleine itself is only a few objects. The memory usage depends almost
entirely on how big your application is.
