A new home for RubyForge

Hi all -

Thanks to the nice folks at Ruby Central, RubyForge is getting new
hardware (*) and a new colocation home. In other words, we're moving it
out of Rich Kilmer's basement!

So, tomorrow RubyForge will be down for a few hours while all the data
gets moved over to the new machine. The downtime will start at about 10
AM EST and end, well, as soon as I can get a database dump copied over
and restored. And as soon as the DNS change propagates, too.

If you're so inclined you can add a hosts entry for rubyforge.org and
beat the DNS movement; the new IP is 205.234.109.18.

Questions/comments welcome,

Yours,

I just want to thank you, and all else involved, for all you do (tirelessly) for RubyForge.org. All Rubyists are forever in your debt.

By the way, a few folks have gotten a message to the effect of "POSSIBLE
DNS SPOOFING DETECTED!" when they've tried to checkout or commit code to
RubyForge. This is due to the new server key on the new machine. To
make this message go away, delete the rubyforge.org key from
your .ssh/known_hosts file and try your checkout/commit operation again.

Tom

Thanks for your kind words! May RubyForge's next three years be as
lively as its first three...

+1

And a quick quote from the blog post:
"But good times ahead, and thanks to Ruby Central being a 501(c)(3),
your contributions are tax deductible!"

The best answer to most questions is "it depends".

Rich & Tom-

You guys rock! Thanks for all the work on rubyforge and for supporting the community in so many ways.

Cheers-
