Even if you have a good deal with an alternative carrier at the moment-
swop to us & we will save you more money!
With our simple registration process, you can begin saving money straight
away- no set up charge & no long contract periods.
You keep your BT account & continue to pay your rental -we simply divert
your calls to our reliable, low cost system at the BT
exchange.
Try it for a month, if you are not completely satisfied, then you have no
obligation to continue.
Don’t get left behind! Join the thousands of satisfied businesses both
large & small that have dramatically reduced telephone bills!!—Can
you think of a reason not to do it?

Also, we are launching our cut price ADSL broadband service in november -
for just £22.99 inc VAT per month you can have high
speed internet access!!

There are only 10 types of people in the world:
~ Those who understand binary, and those who don’t

PGP Public Key: http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0x833BB9E4

That’s because the newsgroup traffic is being copied to the mailing list.
Would it be sensible to make the gateway non-symmetrical, like

  ruby-talk =========>   comp.lang.ruby

  ruby-clr  <=========
             =========>

That way, only those subscribed to ruby-clr do receive the messages
posted only to c.l.r.

Another possibility would be making the gateway more intelligent,
requiring people wishing to use comp.lang.ruby to register themselves
before their postings are copied to ruby-talk.

And, another posibility is moderate the newsgroup and the mailing list,
it must not be a lot of work, this is not a heavy traffic list.

:slight_smile:

Perhaps you missed the earlier thread on splitting the group due to what some
(many?) consider the high volume here.

I’m not sure I’d consider a list with about 3k monthly messages “low
volume” (:

I’m not sure I’d want to split the group, either, because there’s a
lot of useful information here.

OK, it’s my point of view, normally I deal with mailing lists that sends
a lot more traffic than this.

And no, I don’t want to split the list, only can be acceptable if
someone can say how much (no spam) traffic comes from usenet and how
much comes from the mailing list. In this case, it would be right to
cross-post the mailing list to usenet and cross-post the usenet to the
mailing list with some moderation.
