Ruby mysql to remote server

Hi. I seem able to connect to a mysql db on a remote server if I have
mysql installed on my local machine. When I don't have mysql installed
on the local machine it won't work.

Is their a way to connect to a mysql server on a remote machine without
having mysql installed on the local machine?

You need at least the MySQL client package installed, so technically
the answer is "no". If you mean "without running a database server
locally", then the answer is yes.

Though the folk I have met,
(Ah, how soon!) they forget
When I've moved on to some other place,
There may be one or two,
When I've played and passed through,
Who'll remember my song or my face.

Ok. thanks.
