for a long time now all we’ve had for client side scripting in web apps
is javascript. which personally i find about as ugly and usable as
vomit. (especially cross-browser). how hard would it to create a plug-in
to allow client-side scripting with ruby?

There’s a Tcl plug in for Navigator and IE:

[Welcome to the Tcl Plugin](http://www.tcl.tk/software/plugin/)

It’s not maintained, but it includes source, so it might be a start.

I think ActiveScriptRuby should work for this
(in IE at least, maybe not Netscape). As for
UNIX, I use it, but I’m ignorant of browser
plugins.
