No colors with ruby-mode

After upgrading to the CVS version of Emacs (2003-06-04), I no longer
get colours with ruby-mode.el (1.69). Has anyone else had trouble with
this? Does anyone have a fix?

Does this problem only occur when you edit a Ruby program and what
happens if you enter ‘M-x font-lock-mode’?

The message “Font-Lock mode disabled” appears.
