Thanks for your reply. I was planning on Ruby on Rails.
I have the Dave Thomas "Programming Ruby" book. I am slowly going
through it but it would be nice if I had some code to start off of.
For Ruby on Rails questions (including how to do AJAX stuff with it, I
recommend the fabulous Ruby on Rails mailing list/group, accessible from
multiple locations:
http://ruby-forum.com/forum/3
http://groups.google.com/group/rubyonrails-talk
Also, Agile Web Development with Rails (also by Pragmatic Programmers)
is pretty good.
