[ANN] DataVision 0.7.2 released

DataVision (http://datavision.sourceforge.net) is an Open Source reporting
tool similar to Crystal Reports. Reports can be designed using a
drag-and-drop GUI. They may be run, viewed, and printed from the
application or exported as HTML, XML, PDF, LaTeX2e, DocBook, or tab- or
comma-delimited text files. The output files produced by LaTeX2e and
DocBook can in turn be used to produce PDF, text, HTML, PostScript, and
more.

DataVision uses JRuby to provide the formula and scripting language.

[By the way, if anyone feels that these announcements are not appropriate
for comp.lang.ruby, please let me know off-list.]

Changes:

  • No new features.

Bug fixes:

  • Generate SQL when there are user columns but no database columns.

  • Formulas are evaluated once and only once within each section, even if
the formula’s field is hidden or the formula appears twice in the same
    section.

  • Dragging special fields into formulas and other code editors is now
    allowed.

  • The “Shrink to Fit” section popup menu command works again.
