Just curious, I know we’re on 1.8.0-preview 2. What remains to be done
before 1.8.0 final is released?
bugfixes? performance enhancements? documentation?
…and when the big day arrives how can we ensure that the word gets out
to various ‘news’ outlets?

Dave Thomas has suggested, on ruby-core, that the existing libraries
be cleaned up prior to release of 1.8, and I agree with him.
